Text messages, counted before they are sent
SMS is the channel where a stray character doubles your bill and cuts a reply in half. Aqvitus measures every message the way the network will, then decides what to do about it.
SMS is on the Team plan and up.
Thanks Mara — your refund of $48.00 is on its way back to the card ending 4417. It usually shows up within a few working days.

Fits in one message, with thirteen characters to spare — measured before it leaves, not after.
A long reply, split cleanly. A card, written out.
The AI composes one reply for every channel. Here is what SMS does with it — measured the way the network measures it, before a single message leaves.

- 1 of 2 · 153 charactersThanks, Mara - I have started a refund of $48.00 for the lamp that arrived cracked. Priya is approving it now, and I will text you as soon as it is done.
- 2 of 2 · 49 charactersYour order A-1042 does not need to be sent back.
Past 160 characters a reply becomes several messages of 153, and the platform says so before it sends. One curly quote would move the whole reply to a wider encoding and drop the budget to 70 — so it is counted first, not afterwards.
1. It arrived damaged
2. It is the wrong item
3. It does not work
Reply with a number.
In a chat window this is three buttons. Here it is three numbered lines — the same block, written out. The answer arrives as the same structured fact either way, so nothing is guessed back out of the words afterwards.
Four ways an SMS goes wrong, all of them handled
None of this is visible to your team. It is the reason their replies arrive whole.
Some characters count twice
Ten perfectly ordinary characters — square brackets, braces, the euro sign — cost two units each on the basic alphabet. They are counted as two.
Nothing is cut mid-character
When a reply has to go as several messages, the split is measured a whole character at a time, so nothing arrives as a pair of question marks.
Three texts in a row are one question
Aqvitus waits ten seconds before it answers, and the wait resets while they are still typing — so a customer thinking out loud gets one reply instead of three.
Your carrier bill is not a surprise
Because the platform counts the segments itself, it can split or hold a reply before it leaves — rather than shipping the text and reading the invoice later.
Your carrier account, not ours
Texts go out on your own carrier account — the same account your calls arrive on. Aqvitus holds a reference to the credential in a vault, never the credential itself, and a workspace can only reach the account bound to it.
A number is a hint, not a password
Anyone can put a number in the From field of a text, so Aqvitus treats an SMS sender as identified and never as verified. An action that needs the customer proved will ask them to prove it, whatever number the message came from.
The number itself stays out of the log
A customer’s phone number is encrypted on their record. It does not appear in event metadata, in a prompt or in a log line — the message is threaded by the provider’s own id instead.
Nothing goes out unasked
A proactive text — a delivery delay, a recap after a call — is checked against that customer’s consent, their right to be left alone, and the workspace’s own limit on how much it will send, before it leaves.
How it connects
Every channel runs the same AI, the same rules and the same history.
AI First. Human Always.
Put the AI in front of every conversation, and keep your team in charge of everything that matters.
